Community Resource Advocate

Job Description:

Community Resource Advocate will work collaboratively with 2-1-1 Northeast Michigan and United Way of St. Clair County staff.  This is a self-motivated role and will be responsible in gathering information regarding community services within the County limits.  The candidate will be facilitating the local call-center to provide individuals seeking information and assistance. 

 

Skills:

  • General knowledge of social service system, governmental bodies and geography of service area
  • Customer service experience with excellent verbal communication and active listening skills.
  • Ability to think analytically and solve problems when limited standards exists
  • Computer experience
  • MUST be proficient in MS Excel and MS Word
  • General knowledge of how databases work

Requirements:

  • High school diploma required, some college coursework in communications preferred.
  • Prepare for and pass the professional certification exam (CIRS) offered by the National Alliance of Information and Referral Systems (AIRS).

Availability:

Part-Time - Must be available to work between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday with an occasional evening.

Finance Director

Job Description:

The Finance Director will provide accurate, accountable, ethical management of organizational finance transactions and records/reports. To review, recommend and implement changes in processes and systems to maintain the highest levels of efficiencies and cost effectiveness within the organization.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Executive Director in preparation of annual budget
  • Prepare monthly and annual financial statements of all finances
  • Audits all Campaign Envelopes into Donation Tracker Software and verify accuracy as necessary
  • Maintain all records and files of financial transactions and supporting documentation
  • Prepare IRS 990 and other tax forms as necessary
  • Prepare all insurance audits and worker comp. requested by providers
  • Apply for and maintain Solicitation License, and prepare all government campaign applications
  • Prepare all billings, statements and follow-up materials
  • Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP) local board liaison

Requirements:

  • Accounting/Bookkeeping Degree or equivalent experience, computer competence in Windows based programs

Availability:

This is a full time position offering 37.5 hours per week typically between 8:00 am & 4:30 pm. Some early mornings or evenings may occur.
