UWSCC Announces Additional Federal Emergency Food and Shelter Program Funding
United Way of St. Clair County, as board chairperson for the Federal Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP), has received notification of the release of an additional $108,151.00 by the federal government to provide grants for eligible agencies for St. Clair County. These funds are to be used to provide for homeless shelters, soup kitchens, food pantries, and organizations helping individuals with emergency utility and mortgage assistance.
This additional EFSP funding, called Phase CARES, has been released by Congress in response to the COVID-19 pandemic to supplement and expand emergency food and shelter programs and help agencies provide more comprehensive support for residents. The funds were awarded to our local EFSP based upon our jurisdiction's total number of unemployed as compared to the total number of unemployed in all qualifying jurisdictions.
All organizations are required to apply using the application process available online, at www.uwstclair.org/EFSP; instructions are provided. This application is separate from that for Phase 37 funding requests. All applications must be submitted to United Way of St. Clair County by 4:30 p.m. on May 25, 2020 for consideration.
