United Way of St. Clair County Approves Grant for Legal Services
United Way of St. Clair County (UWSCC) announces the granting of funds for Lakeshore Legal Aid through their Emergency Services Fund ~ COVID-19 Relief. Lakeshore Legal Aid has identified that, due to the pandemic, there is an increased need of their services for both survivors of domestic violence and survivors of sexual assault. Their request for a grant was made in hopes of lessening the survivors’ hardships by providing free services while they are recovering and getting back on their feet. The awarded funds will provide subsidized legal services for this rising number of individuals so they can get the help they need. Visit lakeshorelegalaid.org to learn more about the services they provide.
UWSCC has designated funds available to help organizations address unique needs specific to COVID-19 in St. Clair County. New contributors to this fund include Comcast Financial Agency Corporation. Thanks to this additional support, UWSCC is able to continue to address unforeseeable, unique needs in the community that are rooted in the COVID-19 pandemic. These funds are intended to help address emergency needs of organizations while assuring financial support is available to aid in future recovery efforts. UWSCC is focused on maintaining accountability by utilizing the volunteer COVID-19 Emergency Response Committee to review COVID-19 funding proposals that are submitted through an online process.
